Introduction

Sometimes, the most meaningful experiences begin with the simplest intentions. What was initially planned as a short, two-hour meeting at the Apni Pathshala office in Mumbai unexpectedly turned into a two-day journey of learning and inspiration for Rekh Raj Pareek, a retired IT professional with over two decades of experience at global companies such as Autodesk and Delta Dental of California.

During his brief visit to Mumbai in late December, Rekh Raj Pareek’s goal was straightforward—to understand the organization’s work and explore the possibility of arranging ten free computers for a government school in his Jaipur neighborhood. However, what unfolded went far beyond a routine professional interaction. He found himself immersed in the vibrant culture of Apni Pathshala, witnessing firsthand how this non-profit organization is transforming digital learning for underprivileged students.

A Visit That Exceeded Expectations

On Monday, December 22, 2025, Rekh Raj Pareek visited Apni Pathshala’s Nala Sopara office expecting a brief interaction with the POD Operations team and a short meeting with the leadership. Instead, he found himself engaged in thoughtful, high-energy conversations with Sagar, CEO of Apni Pathshala, and Shailendra, Head of POD Operations.

Discussions around Apni Pathshala’s mission, long-term vision, and on-ground progress were so engaging that Rekh Raj decided to stay nearby and return the next day for deeper engagement. The clarity of purpose, transparency in operations, and passion for digital education left a lasting impression, transforming a simple meeting into an immersive learning experience.

A Young Team Driven by Purpose

One of the most striking observations Rekh Raj Pareek shared was the mindset of Apni Pathshala’s young team. Despite their age, the team demonstrated remarkable focus, ownership, and commitment to impact. Conversations extended into the evening, touching upon critical themes such as digital education models, automation, scalability, and sustainable value creation.

At several moments, the work environment felt more like a technology startup than a non-profit organization—despite the fact that Apni Pathshala has already provided free computers to over 100+ Points of Digital Learning (PODs) across communities that need them the most.

A Culture of Self-Learning

The following day, Rekh Raj Pareek spent several hours engaging with different teams, including the Tech team. What stood out was how naturally the team practiced agility, collaboration, and continuous improvement—without any formal Agile training.

The team had clearly internalized the values of self-learning, curiosity, and accountability. Rekh Raj shared a few simple frameworks for structuring workstreams and prioritizing efforts, while appreciating how open the team was to feedback and learning. This culture resonated strongly with his own belief that modern education must empower learners to take charge of their growth.

Witnessing Impact at the Learning Center

Beyond office discussions, Rekh Raj Pareek also visited an Apni Pathshala learning center to see the impact firsthand. He observed students actively engaged with digital tools, exploring concepts with curiosity rather than fear. Mentors guided learners with patience, warmth, and care creating a safe and encouraging learning environment.

These interactions highlighted Apni Pathshala’s real-world impact: bridging the digital divide and ensuring that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds gain access to quality education and technology-enabled learning opportunities.

Philosophy Translated into Action

Rekh Raj Pareek had long followed Dr. Aniruddha Malpani’s thoughts on self-learning and digital education and was familiar with the philosophy behind such initiatives. However, witnessing these ideas come alive through Apni Pathshala’s on-ground execution was both inspiring and reassuring.

Seeing a young team translate educational philosophy into practical, scalable solutions reinforced his belief that meaningful change happens when vision, execution, and empathy come together.

Building the Future Through Collaboration

Inspired by his experience, Rekh Raj Pareek is currently working on a project to help a local government school in Jaipur adopt Khan Academy, using the free computers provided by Apni Pathshala. The initiative aims to ensure that students from underserved communities can access world-class learning resources without financial barriers.

For him, this collaboration represents more than just technology adoption—it symbolizes hope, opportunity, and the power of education to change lives.

Conclusion

Rekh Raj Pareek’s visit to Apni Pathshala stands as a testament to what purpose-driven organizations can achieve when passion meets execution. From insightful leadership discussions to witnessing student engagement on the ground, every aspect of the experience reflected Apni Pathshala’s unwavering commitment to digital empowerment and self-learning.

Apni Pathshala is not just providing computers it is nurturing confidence, curiosity, and capability among learners and teams alike. Such guest experiences reinforce the organization’s mission and inspire continued collaboration toward a more inclusive and accessible education ecosystem.
